We went on DEC's Yardie Creek boat tour purge gorge where we saw white flanked rock wallaby, grey heron , white heron, euros, corellas, orb spider, little eagle. The guide, Peter Meyer gave an informative talk about the wildlife, the history of the gorge, and some interesting historical stories about aboriginal fish trap, military activities, early transportation and pastoral activity on the northwest cape.
The campgrounds were full and lots of day trippers at Yardi Creek and Turquoos Bay.
The visitor centre at Milyering was well provisioned with souveniers including. an impressive selection of educational books on wildlife, wildflowers, and local geography. The interpretive display at the centre also doubles as the World Heritage information centre but us in need if incorporating the values of the Workd Heritage Area.
