Same, Same but Different.
Bells Gorge is locate inside King Leopold
Range Conservation Park. There is a camp site nearby at Silent Grove.
Rod O’Donnell hosted us and we camped in
our tents on the lawn behind the rangers house. Mark Giblett played tour guide
and took us around for the day. We hiked 3 different gorges: Galvins
Gorge, Adcock Gorge, Bells Gorge. When
we asked ranger Mark Giblett what we’d be seeing today his reply was “same,
same, but different”.
The walk in to Galvins Gorge was one
kilometer from the car park. There was an APT bus in the parking lot and we met
a group of seniors who looked to be enjoying the walk. The gorge pool was small
and there we met two families with young children. At Alcock Gorge we found insect
eating plants, lots of bird life, wonderful
We swan at Adcock and Bells below the
falls. The falls were stunning and the water was very refreshing.
Some of the challenges for KLCP include
feral cattle, cats, pigs and donkeys. In the past up to 20,000 feral donkeys
were removed in a single year.
